Jovan Radovanovic

Jovan started karate at the age of 10 with Tiger’s Eye Karate-Do at the North Shore Neighbourhood House. He is a teacher assistant.

Karate has been a large part of my life and has helped turn me into the person I am today. Training at Tiger’s Eye Karate has improved my strength, fitness, and mental toughness, all of which also help me in other aspects of my life outside of Tiger’s Eye Karate. Training here has also taught me discipline, self-respect, and respect for others.

I have competed at a few competitions, including provincial competitions. Each competition that I competed in has been thrilling and, more importantly, a valuable learning experience each time that increases my experience and makes me train harder. I am looking forward to future competitions.

Training here has provided me with many other opportunities, such as going to various competitions, refereeing, and judging clinics, and the opportunity to teach others. I have attended karate refereeing and judging clinics where I have earned my regional judge certification from Karate B.C. With that certification I have been able to, alongside competing, also help judge a few competitions that I have gone to.

I consider Tiger’s Eye Karate as a second family. I have met so many amazing people, from Sensei Hamid and Sensei Hana, and the other students here that work together to help each other get stronger and are there to support each other all the time.ns that Sensei Hamid, Hana, and my classmates have taught me, in this great environment they’ve created. Tigers Eye Karate-Do has been the place where I had some of the greatest life changing experiences, and where I felt my best improvements, both as an athlete and as a person.
